Came home to a nice surprise last night - The Deli Portland featured the two singles from my debut EP for 'Saturday Night Sounds!' Click here for the article. Looking forward to my two guest appearances this week, and my full show next week on October 11th at Kelly's Olympian!
"A master at the keys, Isreal instrumentalist Gil Assayas shares animated vocals with faultless keyboard and synth playing to make jazzy electronic you can't help but dance to." - The Deli Portland.
It's been a week since my EP release show, and even though I wrote about the experience on social media I didn't get the chance to share it on my website until now. So here goes:
The show was incredibly fun and I couldn't have asked for a better turnout or a more supportive crowd! I'm really grateful for everyone who came out and packed the place.
The other two acts who performed, Rare Diagram and Coco Columbia both played killer sets and it was a real pleasure to share the stage with them. Coco joined me on stage for a Björk cover and her band's incredible drummer Micah Hummel played a couple of tunes with me too, it so much fun collaborating with these guys!

I'm now gearing myself up for my upcoming shows which I'm really excited about! I'll be a musical guest on the local PDX comedy talk show Who's The Ross, share the stage with Seattle act General Mojos, play a live session on KPSU and perform at Southern Oregon Coast Pride! Plus more... here's a list (photo is also by Hunter Paye, taken at my release show):
Oh, and my EP The Pressure is officially out of course! It's available on most online digital music stores or streaming websites. Here are links to Bandcamp, CDBaby, iTunes and Spotify. Cassettes were released on Dazzleship Records and are available at shows.
I'm really grateful for my EP release show being recommended by local press! Thanks Portland Mercury, Willamette Week and Vortex Magazine.
'Things To Do' in The Portland Mercury:
I was lucky to be a guest on two fantastic local shows recently. Podcasts for both shows are now up!
The Portland Playlist, hosted by Teri Briggs and Veronica Bisesti on Portland Radio Project 99.1 FM was so much fun. I got to chat with the two wonderful hosts, air my EP tracks, share influences and perform live! Check it out HERE:
I was also on the Puck Fortland podcast hosted by the awesome and funny Edward Rogers, where I got to noodle on his synth, drink whiskey and have tons of laughs, here's a link:
These shows are very different from each other, yet both were extremely enjoyable in their own ways and I'm so glad I got to be on both! I'm really loving the local Portland music scene.

Hey, here's a short tour update:
I'm now in the Bay area with The Secret Sea, we had two shows here so far and they were both really great. Today we play a house show here in San Francisco and then we head to LA tomorrow to play at The Mint.
Unfortunately our car broke down on the way to California and we had to rent one, which is really expensive so we had to cut the tour short and cancel our last show at Old Towne Pub in Pasadena.
And now for some better news:
Pro photographer Sarah Neill attended our show at Turn Turn Turn in Portland earlier this month and took these awesome photos. Check them out here!
A few weeks ago I recorded an interview and session for Dan Cable's awesome podcast at Mountain Air Studios. The episode is now online! You can have a listen HERE.
YouTube videos of the session will be up shortly too!
I have two fabulous new press features to share with you all. A couple of weeks ago I was lucky to be a guest on Luke Neill's fantastic radio show Sounds Of PDX (Portland Radio Project) and premiere some tracks from my upcoming debut EP. The show's podcast has now been uploaded, you can check it out here!
Just a day before I was on that show, I met up with Kelly M. Jones from Portland Notes to chat about my upcoming shows and debut EP. She has now published an extremely supportive article with an audio interview and live video! Check it out here.
I am so grateful to both these amazing people for their incredible support!

So thankful for Luke and the PRP crew who show so much love and support for indie musicians.
I will share the podcast as soon as it's up!
